Submission of a paper to the Archives must be based on the tacit assurance that no similar paper, except for a preliminary report, has been or will be submitted for publication elsewhere.

Categories of Manuscripts
Reviews, usually not exceeding 35 printed pages, are mostly written by invitation. Uninvited articles, however, are also considered for publication. In this case, the author(s) should contact the Editor before preparing the manuscript.
Full original papers usually cover from 6 to 20 printed pages.
Longer papers may be accepted only when there are compelling reasons. Short communications not exceeding 6 pages when printed may be published more promptly than the articles of other categories.

Style of Manuscripts
Manuscripts must be typewritten in double space on one side of A4 white paper. Manuscripts of all the three categories should contain a title page, a summary, the main text, references, figure legends, tables and figures.
Title page: The title page must include the title of the paper, the full names of authors, the institution at which the study carried out, and a short running title (less than 50 characters, including spaces). The name of the corresponding author followed by full postal address, telephone and fax number, E-mail address should also be provided.
Summary: All articles must have a summary that is written in no more than 250 words.
Main text: The text (except Reviews) should have the following sections: Introduction, Materials and Methods, Results, Discussion, Acknowledgements, References, Tables, and Figure Legends.
References: References are to be cited in the text as: Smith (1980) reported that ...; (Smith, 1980, 1982); (Smith and Tanaka, 1980); (Smith et al., 1980, 1981a). Suffixes a, b, etc. should be used following the year to distinguish two or more papers by the same author(s) published in the same year. Literature citations must be listed alphabetically accoring to the surname of the author. The citation should be listed in the following style:

Schultz-Hector S, Balz K, Bohm M, Ikehara Y, Rieke L:
Cellular localization of endothelial alkaline phosphatase reaction product and enzyme protein in the myocardium.
J Histochem Cytochem 41: 1813-1821 (1993).
Ohtani O, Murakami T: Routine methods for vascular casting and SEM. In: Scanning electron microscopy of vascular casts (Motta PM, Murakami T, Fujita T, ed), Kluwer Academic Publisher, Boston-Dordrecht-London, 1992 (p. 13-25)
Stoward PJ, Pearse AGE: Histochemistry. 4th ed., Vol. III.
Chuchill Livingstone, Edinburgh-London-Merbourne-New York-Tokyo, 1991.
Figures: Figures, including graphs, should be numbered in order of mention in the text. Figures, when printed, will be smaller than 16.6×21.6 cm; space for the legend beneath each figure must be taken into account. Clean lettering and labeling on the figures are desired. The figures must be mounted on thinner bond paper, not on cardboard. If supplied electronically, graphics should be supplied as high resolusion (at least 300 dpi) files, saved as .tif or .eps format. Hard copy print out of each figure is required in addition to the electric files.

Electric version
The electric version of the paper should be accompanied by three sets of the identical hard copy print-out. The preferred medium is MO disk or CD in Macintosh or MS-DOS/Windows. It is essential that the hardware and word processing package are specified on the medium (e. g. Word or text).

Charges to Authors
The authors are requested to cover a part of the printing cost. The charge for each printed page is \5,000 for the text (incl. reference list, tables, and figures). The authors are also requested to pay for color printing; the cost for a half page (16.6 ×12.0 cm) is \7,000.
The minimum of 50 reprints will be provided upon request, at the author’s expense. Reprints may be ordered when the proofs have been returned.
